Howson and Burns

With it being the year of Homecoming in Scotland (Rabbie Burns is 250 – any excuse for a party) somebody somewhere has suggested a pile of painters knock up a portrait of the bard.

The one featured by the Scotchman by Howson the other day is in typical Howson style – all dark mood and sinister shades. It’s bound to be a hit – so expect to see it appear everywhere – it’s a much more contemporary view of Burns and something that is bound to start gracing the walls of Burns Clubs around the globe.

Nice idea to redraw Burns in today’s light. I wonder what light he would throw back on us.
