I avoid flying as far as possible now. The security stuff may well be necessary but removing shoes, belt, laptop, keys etc etc is too much of a hassle when you can travel by train…. and nobody takes your bottle of Highland Spring from you either. So for UK travel – go by train.
National Express run the Inverness-London train and it comes with free wifi. Clever stuff – we did a lot of wifi software a while back – 802.11n was the reference for the trainspotters among us.
The time difference in travel time (air v rail) from Central Scotland to Central London is negligible and it’s much less hassle by rail. But better than that because the wifi worked (nearly all the time) the journey time actually shrunk – or at least seemed to.
A full days work while I waited on my Hotel to arrive.
