Taking a walk away from a muddy games park in the summer I ended up on the beach at North Berwick. (The joy of following pipe bands around Scotland in Summer).

But before I knew it I had travelled back in time 40 years. The time travelling moment happened when I wandered past the Sea Bird Centre and into the area where the lido used to be. Suddenly I was 8 and standing at the top of the stairs that lead to a view point where you can see the Bass Rock.

Last time I stood there I was a kid on a family outing. That day suddenly felt really close – a surprise moment in the middle of a rainy day. Touching the railing was like stepping back in time – time travel is dead easy just don’t expect it to happen by using a tardis.
