Local income tax in Scotland….. hmmm

Big Gordon looks like he’s keen to see the Scottish Government take responsibility for raising the money they spend. Hmmm.

The last time Scotland had a different local taxation system from the rest of the UK it wasn’t too popular…… so we went in the huff. I can’t help but think that any new tax is always seen as unpopular – so is the PM simply giving the SNP enough tax to hang themselves with?

Personally I think the taxation system in the UK is complex enough without another level coming into play. I’m not a fan of the idea.

Income Tax, Employer NI, Employee NI, VAT, Corporation Tax, Capital Gains Tax and now a Scottish Local Income Tax and in a few years an additional tax for employee pension provision (perhaps). Maybe we should move into the Tax business – seems to be a growth area.
